when installing EA fifa soccer 2009 in Vista, the following problem may occur

error reading from file X :\autorun.dat. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

the problem is that in Vista, you must have the authority to visit a certain file.

you can do the following to solve the problem:

  1. copy all the content in the Fifa 09 DVD to your hard drive.
  2. Right click the autoruan.dat then chose Properties

3. Click ‘Security’ Tab then click ‘Edit…’

4.  Select each user in, and tick the ‘Full control’

5. Click ‘Ok’ save all your changes.

Now, you will be able to install the game.

If there is other problem, reply this post http://www.studyblog.net/archives/120 in my blog www.studyblog.net , I’ll try to find a solution for you.

Enjoy!

    hi mate,

i’m not sure what the problem, but you can try this:
    right click your pes.exe,
    click the ‘compatibility’ tab,
tick the ‘run this program in compatibility mode for’
then try other version of windows

    cheers

quite sure wesley didn’t copy the cd to his comp first. anyhow, i have the same problem, except with need for speed undercover. it says the thing about error reading from autorun.dat. i tried your solution, but each time i tried to copy the dvd to my hard drive i got a bsod and the copying stopped midway and the comp restarted. any ideas?

    hi guys,
    you can try this:

control panel–>user accounts–> “turn User Account Control on or off”.

then you turn it off. there might be some “danger warning”. but anyway, turn it off.

reply here and tell me if it works.

I’ve the same problem with Fifa 10, error reading from file X :\autorun.dat. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. Will the solution work for FiFA 10?

    Hi,
I tried installing fifa 09 on my laptop. I have windows vista on my comp. Although I did try all the steps mentioned here. when i try to run the autorun.exe file it asks for cd/dvd in drive C. however I have created a virtual drive and mounted the ISO file in another drive F. Dont know how to deal with this prob. can you help?

Hello. Maybe Someone can explain to me, how to copy to hard drive? Maybe I just have to copy-paste to any location on my computer?(desktop, documents etc…) or I have to copy to Local disk?
